## Bring your own key

There is no shared key, no proxy and no per-message charge. You choose the provider and you see the bill.

- **OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini**: Plus anything that speaks OpenAI's chat API: Groq, OpenRouter, DeepSeek, Together, Mistral or a server of your own.
- **Keys encrypted, never sent back**: Saved with AES-256-GCM, decrypted only on the server. The browser only ever sees the last four characters.
- **You can see what it spends**: Replies sent, prompt tokens and completion tokens are counted per agent, so the spend on your key is never a mystery.
- **Off is a valid setting**: Keyword flows work exactly as before. The AI step is one node you choose to add, on the automations you choose.

## Frequently asked questions

### Whose API key does the AI use?

Yours. You add an OpenAI, Anthropic or Gemini key in the workspace and every reply is billed by that provider, not by us.

### Can the AI invent a price or a link?

It can only send links you added as buttons, because it names a button and we fill in the URL. Prices come from the knowledge block you paste in.

### What happens if my key fails?

The contact gets the fallback reply you wrote, and the failure is in the logs with the reason.

### Do I have to use AI at all?

No. Keyword flows work exactly as before, and the AI reply step is one node you can choose to add.

### Will Awwtomation get my account blocked?

No. Awwtomation respects Instagram and Messenger messaging limits and never asks for your social password.
